Last night, the Miners defeated the Bucs 5-1. Mark Anderson (So./BYU) hurled six shut-out innings, to extend his scoreless streak against the Bucs to eleven innings. The Miners had ten hits last night, giving them double-digits in that category for three straight games. Cam Kneeland (Jr./Mass.-Lowell) hit his first homer of the season in game, as he continued his late season resurgence. Kneeland now has three extra-base hits in the last two games, and has raised his batting average to .257 in ABL play. Left-hander Brendan Lobban (Jr./St. John's) came on in relief to get the final two outs in the game.
Tonight the Miners send Brandon Hedrick (Jr./Union College) to the mound. Hedrick has made one start this season, and it came back on July 12th against the Oilers. The Corbin, Ky.-native lasted just 2 2/3 innings, yielding seven runs. Hedrick battled control issues in the game, issuing seven free passes in the game. Hedrick has been used for the most part as a closer for the Miners, leading the club with three saves this season. The NAIA All-American selection comes into the game with a 1-1 record, and an earned run average of 5.54.
